A Nation of Cowards

Apathy is the first sign of a coward. Appeasement is the second one. Surrender is the clincher. It is a sad state that we as Americans are on a bullet-train to this state. We are apathetic of problems and say "Gee, not my problem!". We decide to have appeasement with those who wish to compromise our Rights to speak freely, own guns, love another consenting adult, and believe in whatever god(s) we wish in peace. Sadly we haven't reached surrendering over to others just quite yet.

People do not seem to mind that the Bill of Rights is slowly being eroded in the name of safety. Habeas Corpus is being killed because it's a "hindrance to our safety and fight against terrorists". What good is safety if there is no liberty. Who shall watch these watchmen who watch us so closely? Are we to be guilty of a crime before we even act? Uncle Sam has decided that he can see what we're reading, groups we associate with, and generally what we do in the privacy of our home. For what, you say? Safety? There is no such thing in reality. You can take all the steps to ensure you are safe but something will turn out to be your Achilles' Heel!

I remember a conversation I had with someone a while back when I scoffed (my favorite past time besides shooting paper to bits) at the PATRIOT ACT. The other person gave me a LECTURE about how we can't let "something stupid like caring about the rights of some crook" get in the way of defending people. I'm sorry but the last time I checked the Bill of Rights, "crooks" have rights to confront the evidence against them. Even after they are convicted they are still human beings who deserve dignity. It baffles the civilized mind to think that such thoughts have crept up after so many years of evolving from primitive humans.

This same person also said that all guns should be registered and that the Assault Weapon Ban should be brought back. I'm sorry but why not ban computers because they lead to people being hackers and bootlegging games, videos, books, etc.? Why not make it so cars do not have ground effects, spoilers, tinted windows, and the ability to go over 70 MPH? I honestly do not understand how people can be so afraid of guns?

Notice all the morons who go on a shooting spree with a semi-auto? How many people do they kill? Five, ten max, right? Now let's look at Charles Whitman. This guy goes up into the UT Tower, kills roughly 15 people (numbers are disputed but that's close enough, dammit!). His weapon of choice: a Remington 700 with a scope. Whitman did not spray-and-pray his attack. He was methodical, he calmly shot each person with precision of a Marine. Now here lies the question, should be ban bolt-action rifles? Should we have lobotomies for everyone who is discharged from the Armed Forces? Should we make towers so fortified that this will never (riiight, never) happen?

You roll your eyes and say, "Of course not!" but I'm sure there are people out there who would seriously consider these options (though maybe not to the same hyperbolic degree that I have presented in the latter two). Crazy people will do bad things regardless of the precautions you take.

In Soviet Russia (no this is not a Yakov Smirnoff joke, sheesh!), Andrei Chikatilo killed over 50 people. Bear in mind the USSR had gun-control and constantly monitored its people. It was the Party line to say that such crimes were only committed in countries that were under the influence of capitalism.

If we do not stand ready to defend freedom, we do not deserve it. Lip service is not needed, actions are! Act now and save your liberty!

Remington's Stance On Your Freedom!

UPDATE!

Remington was smart and decided to drop Jumbo like the huge turd that he is. Please don't boycott them and anything else I said is now void because of them. Unlike Jumbo, I can accept my mistake. Move along, nothing to see here.

Jim Zumbo is a Jumbo Dumbo

Recently Jim Zumbo, a name which was unheard to me until now, came out and said some nasty things about "assault rifles" and how "terrifying" they are. Jim is sponsored by Remington, Gerber, and Mossy Oak to name a few. I can foresee that he may be in the unemployment line due to the mounting criticism and anger directed towards Outdoor Life and the fact subscriptions are being cancelled (I'm not even going to bother patronizing their site save for finding more ammo to ridicule their writer) and harsh (but needed) words are being said.

Jumbo is my nickname for the portly hunter who probably makes more than I do in a year for each of his blathering. It's easy to criticize the working American like me who prefers such weapons when they are cheaper, more reliable, versatile, ergonomic, etc. compared to some expensive bolt-action that can't be jarred to hard. Jumbo sure likes things to go his way, we call this a "controlling" type of personality. Jumbo wishes to join the warm Red glow of the Brady Bunch. Little does Jumbo realize is his fancy BAR (Bolt-Action Rifle) will soon be renamed a "High-Powered Sniper Rifle" and his fancy $6K (which he most likely got as a gift for writing a review for the company) shotgun will be renamed a "Short Barrelled Street Sweeper". Jumbo doesn't realize that when these power hungry, goose-stepping, greedy sons of bitches get a hold of my guns (because they are effective in keeping such tyrants in their place) they'll be coming after his. Or maybe he believes selling out the rest of us will earn him brownie (I can imagine him imitating Homer Simpson in showing his delight of the bakery good) points with Hitl..I mean Hillary.

If you love your freedom, your liberty, your right to tell tyrant and thug alike "NO!", then join me and everyone else in BOYCOTTING everything associated with Jumbo. In short, Jumbo, go
fuck yourself.

Don't believe my accusations? Go here http://outdoorlife.blogs.com/zumbo/2007/02/assault_rifles_.html and see for yourself!
